Duplicate Listing Policy

3 min read

To ensure fairness and a clear, easy-to-use marketplace for all traders, PeerLoot has a simple policy on duplicate listings. The goal is to give every user’s ads equal visibility and to prevent clutter.

This rule applies universally across all games and categories.

The Core Rule #

Each trader is allowed to post only one active listing per unique product at any given time.

What is a “Unique Product”? #

A unique product is defined by its key traits—the things that determine most of its value. This is easiest to understand with examples:

  • Currency: An ad to sell “100 Million Old School RuneScape Gold” is a unique product. You cannot create a second ad to sell another 100 million gold until the first one is either completed or deleted.
  • Game Accounts: A “Level 50 account with a specific rare skin” is a unique product. Creating another listing for the exact same account is a violation. However, two different Level 50 accounts are considered two unique products, even if they have similar stats.
  • Items: An ad to buy “10x of a specific potion” is a unique product. You cannot create a second ad to buy another 10 potions.

How to Structure Your Listings Correctly #

  • Be Accurate and Honest: Use detailed and truthful descriptions. A good listing attracts the right traders and leads to positive feedback.
  • Avoid Minor Variations: Do not create multiple listings for what is essentially the same product with only tiny differences. For example, listing “10 Million Gold” and “10.1 Million Gold” as two separate ads is a violation.
  • Bundle Your Offers: If you want to offer different amounts of the same product (like currency), create a single listing with a large total quantity and set a minimum/maximum order amount. This allows other users to buy the exact amount they need from your single ad.

Examples of Rule Violations #

Violations of this rule include, but are not limited to:

  • Slightly Altered Versions: Creating multiple listings for the same game account with only minor changes to the description or a trivial difference in its inventory.
  • Misleading Differences: Listing “0.5 Billion” and “500 Million” of the same currency as two separate ads.
  • No Meaningful Difference: Listing an account with 40,000 in-game currency and then creating a second listing for the same account with 40,500 currency. The difference is too small to justify a separate ad.

Why This Policy is Important #

  • Fairness: It prevents a single user from dominating the marketplace with dozens of similar ads, giving everyone a fair chance at visibility.
  • Clarity: It reduces clutter, making it easier for traders to find what they are looking for.
  • Trust: It prevents buyer and seller frustration from confusing or nearly identical offers.

Penalties for Violations #

Breaking this rule will lead to the following consequences:

  1. First Violation: A warning and removal of the duplicate listings.
  2. Second Violation: A temporary suspension of your account.
  3. Repeat Violations: A permanent ban from PeerLoot.

Intentional manipulation of this rule may result in an immediate and permanent ban.

How to Report Unfair Listings #

If you see a user violating this policy, please use the “Report” button on their listing. Our team investigates all reports thoroughly. Thank you for helping us keep the PeerLoot marketplace fair and clean for everyone.
